Pashupatinath Darshan on Teej: When the presence of men is less, it is easier for women <\/p>\n
Kathmandu. Kathmandu. Haritalika Teej, the great festival of Hindu women, is being celebrated with reverence and gaiety across the country today. On the occasion of Teej, devotees have thronged the Pashupatinath temple in Kathmandu since early morning. <\/p>\n
All the four gates of Pashupatinath temple have been opened since 3 am. On this day, there is a tradition of women fasting and worshiping Lord Shiva and Mata Parvati. <\/p>\n
Menuka Koirala, a devotee who visited the Pashupatinath temple for worship and darshan, said that the religious and cultural tradition of Teej has been changing in recent times. She said that although Teej is a tradition that has been going on since ancient times, the way of celebrating it has changed in recent times. She said that although they could not perform severe penance like Parvati, they have been continuing the tradition to the best of their ability. She said, “We may not be as devoted as Parvati, but we are following the tradition that has been passed down from our ancestors.”<\/p>\n

She also expressed dissatisfaction with the changing social culture and women’s attire. She said that some of the activities seen in the name of Teej in recent times are against the original culture and religious beliefs. <\/p>\n
Similarly, the devotee Leela Kadayat said that this time the puja was much easier and faster than the previous years. She said that earlier she had to stand in the queue for a long time, but this time she entered the temple and performed the puja in about 15 minutes. <\/p>\n
She said, “Earlier, there used to be a lot of queues. This time, in 15 minutes, we entered and finished the puja. “<\/p>\n
According to Kadayat, in the past, the crowd used to be more as male devotees used to come for worship. But this time, the crowd may have been less because men were not allowed to enter, she said. <\/p>\n
She said that the main purpose of fasting is to pray for the health and long life of her husband. Januka Poudel, a devotee who visited Pashupatinath, said that special priority has been given to women this year due to Teej and the security arrangements are also well-managed. She said that the management for women today is easy and effective compared to other normal days. <\/p>\n
‘We have come to Pashupatinath many times. But today’s security arrangements were better than other times. Most of the women were given priority because of Haritalika Teej. I was very happy about that,” Poudel said. <\/p>\n
She said that she has been fasting regularly on various festivals and this time she wished for the long life of her parents and no crisis in the family. She said that she used to take Teej as a fun festival in her childhood, but now she is not able to enjoy it due to her responsibilities. <\/p>\n
