Along with the natural beauty, traditional animal husbandry and medicinal herbs have the tourism and economic potential of these Patans. <\/p>\n Connected to Jumla and other surrounding areas along with Barekot, these Patan are also known as the confluence of three districts. Locals say that despite being geographically remote, there is a possibility of attracting domestic and foreign tourists due to the natural beauty. <\/p>\n Sheep, horses and other cattle are taken to the Patan area for grazing for about six months, especially from April to September. This traditional animal husbandry, which has been practiced for generations, has become an important basis of livelihood for the locals. The tradition of taking cattle to the high Patan in the summer season and bringing it down according to the season has a direct connection with the rural economy and lifestyle here. <\/p>\n Various types of valuable herbs are also found in Patan along with livestock. Locals have been earning additional income from the collection and sale of herbs. If animal husbandry, herbs and tourism can be linked in a systematic way, the local economy can be further strengthened. Another feature of these Patans is social and cultural relations. Since the livestock farmers from Barekot and Jumla of Jajarkot reach the same Patan, there has been mutual relations, cooperation and cultural exchange between them for years. Rising above the geographical boundaries, the common grazing area has been connecting the local communities. <\/p>\n The conservation of these naturally sensitive areas is becoming challenging. There is a risk that long-term grazing, uncontrolled collection of herbs and increasing human activities may affect the biodiversity here in the future. Therefore, along with the promotion of tourism, it is necessary to manage the grazing area, protect the herbs and maintain the environmental balance. <\/p>\n This <\/p>\n area can be developed as an important tourist destination if the local level can identify the potential of Patan area and develop footpaths, information centers, housing and basic infrastructure.
