MP Angdembe

Kathmandu. Nepali Congress lawmaker Bhishma Raj Angdembe has accused the government of lacking governance skills and result-oriented working style even though it has a clear majority in the parliament.

Speaking in the House of Representatives on Thursday, lawmaker Angdembe said that even after 6 months of the formation of the government, life is becoming difficult and the government is enjoying in mistakes instead of experience. Standing on the verge of concluding the budget session of the parliament, he drew the attention of the government on 9 points and urged it to introspect.

‘We have sought a strong government; but why is a strong government ruling weakly? This is also a question that arises in my mind. A majority can form a government, but it cannot sustain the trust of the people. It requires vision, dialogue, coordination, institutional respect, decision-making and results. The numbers in the parliament may pass the budget but it cannot create jobs, the government can sustain but it cannot sustain the people’s hope,” he said.

He also raised serious questions about the Prime Minister’s working style and accountability to the Parliament. He expressed dissatisfaction that the parliament was not informed when the Prime Minister went to the 79th General Assembly of the United Nations and returned. He said it was against the parliamentary decorum for the Prime Minister to be absent when the main opposition party raised questions in the parliament.

He said, “Parliament is not like a tavern where you come when you like it and get up if you don’t like it. It is a global practice for the Prime Minister to be present in the discussions in Parliament, listen to the matter and answer as per the need. The Prime Minister is made by the Parliament and he has no right not to follow it. A government that respects the question is never weak, rather a government that runs away from the question is weak. “

Accusing the government of completely failing in the state of the economy, rising inflation and disaster management, he said that the act of arresting the former Chief Justice in the middle of the night and releasing him without any reason was a mockery of the rule of law. He suggested the government to instill confidence in the people by working result-oriented and not relying on populism and social media.

He said, “The mandate given to you by the Nepali people is not to rule the people arbitrarily, but to change the lives of the people. The number of people in the parliament can last for 5 years, but the inefficiency of governance can push the country back by 5 years. Today’s question is: You have the numbers, you have the power, but do you have the skills to convert power into results? Nepal no longer needs populism, it needs a parliament; it doesn’t need a monopoly, it needs cooperation. ’

We got a strong government, but why is the government so weak?
