Kathmandu. Coordinator of the Communist Party of Nepal (CPN) Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has said that the challenge cannot be faced by moving forward in the old way in the changed situation. <\/p>\n
Addressing the unity meeting of Kavre district on Saturday, Prachanda said that the struggle for the constitution, federal democratic republic and people’s rights should be strengthened.<\/p>\n
He said, “The country is not moving forward in a comfortable situation after the regressive devastation of September 24 last year. So far, there have been attempts to push the country towards an extraordinary crisis. In such a situation, we have to fight more strongly against it and in favor of the constitution and the Federal <\/p>\n
Democratic Republic.<\/p>\n
Prachanda said that in the changed situation, party unity among the true communist forces and cooperation between the forces supporting the constitution and the Federal Democratic Republic are necessary. <\/p>\n
He claimed that the narrative that nothing happened after the republic did not match with the facts. “The fact that nothing happened after the republic came is not in line with history and facts,” he said, adding, “We have played an important role in the political process of transforming the country from a feudal monarchy to a federal democratic republic.” He said that the work done during his tenure in the government under his leadership should also be evaluated on the basis of facts. He said that the first term was done to institutionalize the peace process, implement the republic and prepare the basis for constitution-making. <\/p>\n
Similarly, in his second term, the implementation of the constitution was accelerated, holding the local level elections after about two decades, forwarding the practical implementation of federalism and expediting the post-earthquake reconstruction, he said. Stating that decisive work has been done towards ending load shedding, Prachanda said that Nepal is now in a position to export electricity during the rainy season. He said that national infrastructure projects, including the East-West Mid-Hill Highway, road expansion and reconstruction are also important parts of the development process. He claimed that in his third term, good governance, social justice and prosperity were given priority to corruption control, service delivery, economy reform and national interest.<\/p>\n
Prachanda said that serious transformation was necessary within the party as well. He said that the last central committee meeting had decided to increase the participation of youths in the leadership to 50 percent and decided to take forward the process of ideological debate and restructuring through the general convention. <\/p>\n
He said that party unity, collaboration and working unity between the communist and democratic forces should be taken forward. He said that the basis for cooperation should be built in the elections as per the need by cooperating in the struggle of the House and the streets in the coming days. <\/p>\n
“The way ahead is not only to protect the past achievements but also to correct the shortcomings and transform the party, ideology, organization and leadership according to the new situation,” he said. <\/p>\n<\/p>\n
