Kathmandu. The construction of the Hetauda-Dhalkebar 400 KV transmission line, which has been stuck for the past 12 years, has reached the final stage. The Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) is preparing to charge the transmission line after completing the construction of the remaining two multi-circuit towers. <\/p>\n
Minister for Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation, Biraj Bhakta Shrestha, has inspected the Hetauda-Dhalkebar 400 KV substation and took the progress report of two towers of the under-construction transmission line.<\/p>\n
On the occasion, Minister Bhattarai directed the concerned bodies concerned to complete remaining work of the transmission line remaining as the backbone of the country’s energy system on time. <\/p>\n
According to NEA Executive Director Dirgha Kumar Shrestha, out of 16 towers to be constructed under the transmission line, 14 double circuit towers have already been constructed. He said that the construction of the remaining two multi-circuit towers has also reached the final stage. <\/p>\n
“14 towers have been ready. The work progress of the remaining two towers is also good. We will prepare it in 10-15 days and charge it,” he said. <\/p>\n
According to him, the transmission line is considered as the backbone of the national electricity system.<\/p>\n
NEA is expected to increase the reliability of electricity supply, expand internal consumption and increase export after the transmission line comes into operation. <\/p>\n
Minister Shrestha said that Nepal’<\/p>\n
s electricity system would be more balanced and qualitative after the completion of the Hetauda-Dhalkebar transmission line. According to him, the transmission line will make the east-west electricity flow more strong, reliable and sustainable. <\/p>\n
According to the ministry, the operation of the transmission line will strengthen the power supply system within the country and will also help in managing the growing industrial electricity demand. It is expected to create infrastructure to prevent wastage of surplus electricity during the rainy season and also to expand the inter-country power trade with neighbouring countries including India. <\/p>\n
The construction of the Hetauda-Dhalkebar 400 KV transmission line had not been progressed for a long time due to various reasons. The NEA has said that the construction of the project has gained momentum after the process was initiated by the cabinet at the initiative of Minister Shrestha. <\/p>\n
After the completion of the transmission line, the power carrying capacity of the national grid and the reliability of the system will increase. In addition, the ease of east-west electricity flow is expected to create additional bases for the expansion of electricity supply to the industrial sector, increase internal power consumption and electricity trade. <\/p>\n<\/p>\n
