Kathmandu. Shiva Lamsal, the candidate for the post of central member of the Nepali Congress in the 15th General Convention of the Nepali Congress and central president of the Nepal Press Union, has said that his candidacy is to increase the ownership of the people from the professional sector in the party.

Talking to Nepal News Bank, he said that he has been taking initiatives to bring doctors, engineers, professors, journalists, teachers and other professional intellectuals into the mainstream of NC since the 12th general convention.

He said, “I have been lobbying since the 12th Congress that the Congress should be given the entry of professional intellectuals. At that time, we took that decision. Now it has evolved into a professional cluster with lateral entry. My candidature is in that cluster.

He said that his candidacy is for the people in the professional field to feel a sense of belonging towards the Congress and for their political security.

“My candidacy is to make the Nepali Congress a party that not only does politics but also makes the Nepali Congress feel the ownership of doctors, engineers and professors,” he said.

Lamsal also said that he was confident that the delegates of the general convention would support him in completing the campaign he had started and would be elected.
