Kathmandu. Rastriya Swatantra Party (Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) President Rabi Lamichhane has urged all not to follow the rumors of the fall of the government and said that the election should be the only way to change the government. <\/p>\n
Addressing the inaugural ceremony of the 15th general convention of the Nepali Congress in Kathmandu on Sunday, Lamichhane said the agitation should not topple the government in the name of safeguarding democracy. <\/p>\n
He said, “It may fall, but the person who says that the government will fall again and again will fall unconscious seeing the government not fall, the government will not fall, it will not fall at all. Because we have not elected a person this time, we have formed the government with the inspiration to change history by witnessing history.” “<\/p>\n
Lamichhane said that democracy should be protected not only by the political parties but by the people. He said that the rules and values of democracy should not be weakened. <\/p>\n
‘Let’s not go towards toppling the government through agitation, now let’s change the government only through elections. Elections change the government,” he said. <\/p>\n
He urged the political parties not to make statements that weaken the government and people’s mandate formed by the election by showing foreign manipulation, security agencies or other reasons. He said that the people’s vote should be respected. <\/p>\n
Lamichhane praised the history of the Congress and said that although the biggest strength of the party is history, it can become a weakness. He said that the Congress should move forward by working together between the old generation and the new generation. <\/p>\n
“I believe that this series of cooperation will continue continuously. The RSP will always adopt this series of cooperation and I want to present to you today the commitment to move forward at every step in favor of democracy and change,” he said. <\/p>\n
Lamichhane said that he has rightly taken the concerns expressed by the political parties against the incumbent government. He said that the government has taken seriously the questions raised about international relations, economy, capital market and the government’s line of action. He claimed that the RSP would not deviate from the norms and values of democracy.<\/p>\n
Lamichhane clarified that the work of the government and the party has been taken forward as separate responsibilities. He urged the party not to publicize the issue of the Prime Minister not attending the party meeting as the party president and the Prime Minister looks after the activities of the government. <\/p>\n
He said that the government should get an opportunity to work till the next elections. He said that if the RSP does not do a good job, the people can defeat them in the next election. <\/p>\n
‘We can wait until the next election for change. I am confident that the Nepali Congress, at least as a democratic party, can wait till the next election,” he said. <\/p>\n
