Along with the crowd of participants in the general convention, businessmen and material vendors from different places have also used the venue as an opportunity to sell their products and materials. <\/p>\n The crowd of Khula Manch is a new market for Raju Basnet, who has been selling caps made from Dhaka and local materials at the convention venue. <\/p>\n He buys caps produced by others and sells them in different places. He came there expecting that the leaders and cadres participating in the general convention might buy a cap. “A man told me to go to the open forum and sell a lot of caps,” he said, “He also bought two caps and served tea.” According to Basnet, the price of the cap varies according to the customer. Some people pay up to Rs 600, while some demand it for Rs 2-300. <\/p>\n “There are different ways according to the people. Some people give money out of kindness to eat old people, some say no,” he said. It is difficult to earn a regular income only from the sale of hats. So he changes his work according to the season and occasion. He used to work as a janitor, now he sometimes sells vegetables from the village, sometimes he sells caps, sweaters, clothes and umbrellas. The convention has become a new market for him more than a political event. <\/p>\n The story of Khamma Bishwakarma, who came to sell apples from Jumla at the convention venue, is similar. He is selling apples from Jumla, a local product of Karnali, by bringing them to Kathmandu. <\/p>\n ‘What to do, it is an apple from Jumla, Karnali. It is an organic apple. After coming to Kathmandu, you should earn a living by doing this,’ said Bishwakarma. <\/p>\n According to him, it costs a lot to transport apples from Jumla to Kathmandu. He said that the fare for bringing apples in a vehicle is up to Rs 2.40 lakh. He said that apples were initially sold at Rs 300 per kg but are now being sold at Rs 250. <\/p>\n ‘There is not much benefit. If you come to Kathmandu, you will have to go as far as possible, even if there is a loss,” he said. <\/p>\n According to Bishwakarma, there are six members in his family. He said that due to his poor financial condition, he is compelled to do various jobs to run the family. He says that he goes to India in winter to work as a landlord and at other times earns income from the work and products available in the village.<\/p>\n Another woman, who had gone to the convention venue for business, is selling books related to the thoughts and history of the Congress. Deva Upadhyay said that she has brought books related to the Congress for sale, saying that it is necessary for the political workers to study. <\/p>\n ‘Politics without study is incomplete, incomplete. Therefore, I have come here with the intention that everyone should know the minimum things about the Congress,” she said. She said that the book study is important in the midst of political activities that are becoming concentrated on social media. <\/p>\n “Nowadays, there is politics of social media. But a book is a book. There is no politics by looking at social media like reading a book. It is a bit transient,” Upadhyay said. <\/p>\n According to her, the price of the book has been set at Rs 300 so that the workers can buy it easily. She said that four books have been sold soon after the convention started. She said that the money from the sale of books will be used not only for personal income but also for the operation of libraries and institutions. <\/p>\n In this way, along with the hustle and bustle of political debates and leadership selection at the Congress convention venue, local products, traditional materials and ideological books from different districts are also being sold.
