The Nepali Congress has rejected the narrative that nothing has happened in the country in the last 35 years and has resolved to correct the erosion in the democratic culture, make an objective review of the achievements and restore the trust of the citizens.

In a report presented at the party’s 15th General Convention on Monday, General Secretary Bishwa Prakash Sharma said that the narrative that ‘nothing happened in the country in 35 years’ has been created by ignoring the physical and economic achievements made in the country. The report states that most of the bridges, roads and hydropower projects damaged by the floods in the Bhotekoshi River were constructed in the last 35 years.

“Has there really been any progress in the country in the last 35 years?” the report asks.

“There is a need to dispel the narrative that nothing has happened in the last 35 years. There is a need to put the facts before the society objectively and dismantle the wrong political thinking and culture that is interpreted only from a negative angle,” the report said.

The report says, “Dozens of bridges were washed away, when were they built? Many kilometers of concrete roads were washed away, when were they built? Many hydropower projects that were destroyed were almost all achievements within these 35 years. “

After the NC adopted the policy of bringing the private sector into power generation, the production of electricity increased from 277 MW left by the Panchayat to 3500 MW.

“Due to the policy of bringing the private sector into power generation, our generation has increased from 277 MW left by the panchayat to 3500 MW. In the last fiscal year alone, Nepal made a net profit of Rs 18 billion from the electricity business.” The report states, “In the last 35 years, Nepal has faced adversities including 10 years of armed conflict, active rule of the king, earthquake of April 12, Jajarkot earthquake and global pandemic.” “

‘Leadership should not be like a frozen pond, it should be like a flowing river’

The NC has concluded that the leadership should be made like a river flowing while focusing on a single person for a long time.

The report states that priority should be given to the dignified exit of the leadership and the development of new leadership.

Citing the example of BP Koirala giving acting responsibility of the party to Krishna Prasad Bhattarai while he was active, the report states that the culture of handing over the leadership is necessary.

The report states that the continuity of the same leadership has increased the frustration among the citizens and the criticism of the leadership has increased.

} “We have seen firsthand the increase in the frustration among the citizens due to the continuous, continuous and continuous leadership of the same leadership time and time again, on the other hand, the sharp criticism of the leadership has increased and increased,” the report said.

The report states that the good work done by the leadership in the past is also overshadowed by the image of the lust for position and power. The Congress has resolved to keep the leadership fresh like a river flowing continuously from the 15th Congress.

The Nepali Congress (NC) has said that the people’s mandate from the election should not be considered as a silent permission for the citizens to wait for five years no matter what the government or political party does. The report states that the citizens are regularly and

daily evaluating the government and political parties.

The report states that the House of Representatives formed in 2079 BS was dissolved before completing its five-year term, adding that stability of the government and parliament was linked to the continuous trust of the citizens.

‘The life of parliament or governments is no longer dependent only on comfortable mathematics, it demands. The continued trust of the citizens. And the navel of that trust is directly linked to good governance,” the report said.

The report states that due to the change in social psychology, the citizens are not in a position to review the government and political parties only once in five years.

“But the changed social psychologist does not seem to be waiting for that five years. His alert, alert and investigative eye is regularly and daily reviewing the government and the parties,” the report said.

The Nepali Congress (

NC) has made it clear that the election mandate should not be taken as an excuse for the government and political parties to lose their way for five years.

The report states that the citizens are looking for a different presentation than the tradition of making a manifesto public once in five years and evaluating the government and parties on the basis of it.

The Congress has described continuous accountability as an important aspect of a democratic culture. The Nepali Congress has put forward 15 public resolutions to end the distortions seen in the political culture. The report has pledged to avoid person-centric politics, permanent factionalism, candidacy on the basis of access, opacity and misuse of public office.

The report has resolved to keep the individual’s thoughts at the center but not to do politics to keep the person at the center of the idea.

“We put the individual’s thoughts at the center but do not do person-centered politics,” the report said.

The Congress has said that it will accept such different views but will not develop them into permanent factions.

“We inevitably internalize different ideas, but we do not make the tendency to develop them into permanent factions as the basis of the organization,” the report said.

The Congress has said that it will not give priority to candidates on the basis of reach and influence. Similarly, the party has resolved not to accept the opacity of the party leadership, members and committees, not to turn the citizen’s mandate into arrogance and not to limit the election manifesto to a forgotten tamasuk. The Congress has said that it will not work for political patronage in the legal process, the tendency to use public office as a means of personal gain and the use of social media as a center of internal dispute. The party has resolved not to limit the deserving youths to waiting for leadership, not to limit inclusion to mere numbers, not to make contribution the sole basis of merit and not to keep short-term interest above institution, ideology and democratic values. Similarly, it has resolved to link the election manifesto with the performance of the people’s representatives, to inculcate a culture of regular public reports of the elected representatives and to make the party offices across the country a center for citizens’ dialogue.

Kathmandu.
