Kathmandu. In the 15th general convention of the Nepali Congress, candidates from the young generation to the professional experts have announced their candidacies for various posts with the agenda of making the party timely, strong and people-oriented. <\/p>\n
Claiming that she is the youngest candidate of the country, Abhipsa Poudel has said that her main objective is to increase the people’s trust in the NC and strengthen the organization. Stressing on the need to give priority to youths and women in the party, she said that her agenda is to make women aware of their rights and capable and to create employment and opportunities for them in the country. <\/p>\n
Poudel said that she got into politics because she likes to lead and raise voice for others since childhood. She described politics as a ‘mind game’ and said that she would be active in increasing the participation of youth and women. <\/p>\n
Dinesh Koirala, a central member of the Nepali Congress, has filed his candidacy for the post of joint general secretary from the Khas-Arya group. He said that he wants to go to the office bearers to give a chance to the new generation as he has been a central member for two terms.<\/p>\n
Koirala said that there was a need to change the leadership by purifying the party. Expressing the view that a strong team should be formed under the leadership of incumbent President Gagan Thapa, he apologized to the people by correcting the shortcomings and mistakes made by the NC in the past and pledged not to repeat such mistakes in the future. <\/p>\n
According to him, the need of the hour is to build a Congress that understands the voice, sentiments and desires of the people as both the country and the Congress are in a difficult situation. He said that he has filed his candidacy for the post of office-bearers to lead the country by strengthening the party. <\/p>\n
Madhesi open candidate for the post of central member Dr. Garib Das Thakur said that he has become a candidate to further strengthen the Congress as a leading political party in the fight for democracy. He has made development, good governance and prosperity of the people his main agenda. <\/p>\n
Thakur said that he was elected from the village level and expressed the belief that he would win in the internal competition this time too. Similarly, Engineer Dr. Ram Krishna Poudel has filed his candidacy for the post of central member for the post of professional expert. He said that effective use of digital means is necessary to take the agenda of the Congress to the general public. Stating that the general public is also feeling that the digital management of the Congress is weak, Poudel said that he would play the role of ‘digital bridging’ between the party and the people as an expert. According to him, the NC can make a good comeback in the upcoming local level and other elections if the party’<\/p>\n
s policies and agenda are taken to the people through digital medium. <\/p>\n
Youth leader Yogesh Gauchan Thakali has indicated that he will have minimal claim in the central working committee and he may also stake claim for the post of joint general secretary. He said that not only the participation of youths but also the role of intervention in the party is necessary. <\/p>\n
Thakali said that the role of youths is important to make the Congress timely and relevant according to the changing economic, social and political environment of the 21st century. He said that his main agenda is to restore the lost faith in the Congress by involving the youth in politics from policy making to result-oriented work.<\/p>\n
He said that after the 15th general convention, there should be a change in the political perspective, ideology, working style and organizational structure of the Congress. He said that nationalism, socialism and democracy should be redefined according to the Nepal of the 21st century while keeping it as the main principles of the party. <\/p>\n
The candidates have stressed that the general convention should establish the Nepali Congress as a more credible political force among the people with a new political perspective and working style. Similarly, Khadak Bahadur Rana, a candidate for the central member of the Nepali Congress in the Indigenous Nationalities Forum, has said that it is necessary to strengthen the NC for the country’s prosperity and consolidate the democratic system.<\/p>\n
He said that democracy, good governance and human rights can be maintained in the country only if the Congress is strong. He said that priority should be given to the new generation, youth and subject experts in the party by correcting the shortcomings of the previous leadership. <\/p>\n
Rana said that he has worked in the field of journalism for two decades and has gained experience and expertise in related subjects. He said that he has traveled to various countries including Japan, China, Africa and studied the development models there, and has also worked in the field of human rights and good governance. Stating that he has also worked in the field of training and has trained hundreds of thousands of people, Rana said that he has filed his candidacy with the aim of dedicating his experience, knowledge and expertise to the building and strengthening of the NC organization. He expressed the view that the NC could be made more effective and strong if the experience and expertise of the new generation could be utilized in the party. <\/p>\n
