Ward Chairman BK taken to Surkhet <\/strong><\/p>\n Hemanta KC, Nepal News Bank<\/p>\n Surkhet. Kesharman BK, chairman of Aathbiskot Municipality-3, who was accused of being beaten in the custody of the District Police Office, Rukum West, has been taken to the Provincial Hospital Surkhet for further treatment. He was brought to Surkhet at around 3:00 am on Wednesday. <\/p>\n BK sustained injuries on his head, face and neck.<\/p>\n He is undergoing treatment at the state hospital. <\/p>\n The Communist Party of Nepal, Rukum (West), has called ward chairman BK to the police office for discussion and accused him of being detained without an arrest warrant and beaten up. Issuing a press release on Tuesday, the party demanded the immediate release of BK unconditionally, free medical treatment and legal action against the police involved in the beating. <\/p>\n A press release issued by party’s district coordinator Govinda Roka and co-coordinator Suraj Pariyar demanded an impartial investigation into the incident. The District Police Office, Rukum (West) said that BK was arrested on the charge of indecent behavior and obstructing the duty of a civil servant.<\/p>\n According to the police, a police team had reached near Kalika Temple in Musikot Municipality-1 on October 5 to arrest Gopal BK, who had filed a complaint of indecent behaviour. Gopal’s elder brother Kesharman was arrested on the charge of arguing, abusing and assaulting the police team and eloping with his brother, police said. <\/p>\n Police have remanded Kesharman in custody for three days for further investigation. Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Bed Prasad Poudel of District Police Office, Rukum (West) claimed that there was no assault on ward chair BK in custody. <\/p>\n Poudel said that BK was beaten up in police custody and claimed that he had staged a drama and was injured by the collision. He also alleged that people who did not have serious health problems were sent to the state hospital for treatment. <\/p>\n Meanwhile, Roka, the district coordinator of the Communist Party of Nepal, has denied the claim of the police. He has demanded that the CCTV footage of the incident site and custody be made public to prove the claim of the police that the ward chairman was not beaten.<\/p>\n BK has been elected as the ward chairperson of Aathbiskot Municipality-3 twice.
