Minister Shrestha said that in this digital age, 73 percent of the citizens still make physical payments by going to the counter. <\/p>\n
He said that the support of conscious citizens is needed for this. <\/p>\n
Minister Shrestha said that digital payment will save time and commute cost of citizens, and financial transparency and security will increase by reducing cash transactions. In addition, Minister Shrestha believes that the resources and manpower required to operate the counter can be utilized for other necessary customer service. 59.79 crore spent on operation of <\/p>\n

According to Minister Shrestha, about 73 percent of the citizens who pay electricity bills reach the counter physically. The cost of the tariff collection counter operated for the citizens coming physically is about Rs 59.79 crore annually. Minister Shrestha also said that this expenditure will be saved through digital payment and the manpower can be used for other works. <\/p>\n
Currently, there are 655 tariff collection counters in the branches under the 129 distribution centers of Nepal Electricity Authority. About Rs 59.79 crore is spent annually in the operation of these counters, which means about Rs 50 million per month,” he said through Facebook.
