During the election to the House of Representatives on March 21, senior leader of the Rastriya Swatantra Party, the current Prime Minister Balendra Shah (Balen), wrote on social media that he said, “Far away now.” In the election rally, he openly praised Far-West and Janakpur. To attract voters, Balen did not miss the opportunity to praise the place where he went. <\/p>\n
But on the eve of Dashain, the airfare rate is really alarming. In fact, at this time, it is shown that the far-west is still far away in terms of airfare. Due to the high airfare of Kathmandu-Dhangadhi, it is comparatively cheaper to reach various cities of India. Transportation should be easy and accessible, the general public has been affected due to the high airfare in the far-west. <\/p>\n
With Dashain approaching, the number of passengers returning home in the capital Kathmandu has increased. However, for the passengers who are preparing to go home, this year’s Dashain journey is becoming more expensive than easy. Although passengers are attracted to air travel due to long journeys on the road and uncertainty of the road, the high price of air tickets has added to their problems. <\/p>\n
Passengers going home to the far west are confused, especially after the fare of Kathmandu-Dhangadhi air travel has become expensive. Some passengers are looking for air tickets even though they are expensive, saying that the bus journey is long and the condition of the road is uncertain. However, after hearing the price of the ticket, some people have said that they have to cancel the air journey. <\/p>\n
Himal Bista, who is preparing to go to Bajura, says that the bus fare from Kathmandu to Bajura is around Rs 5,600, but he is worried that he will not be able to reach home on time if the road breaks. He said, “The bus fare from Kathmandu to Bajura is Rs 5,600. But if the road breaks, it is not necessary to reach in two days. Even the driver cannot guarantee that he will reach in two days. I have to reach home in two days. \u2019<\/p>\n
Bista says that even though the bus reached Martadi, the district headquarters of Bajura, he had to walk for two more days to his home from there, so he had to look for an air ticket to Dhangadhi. However, he is even more confused after the price of the ticket reached around Rs 22,900. <\/p>\n
“The plane ticket to Dhangadhi is Rs 22,900, it is very expensive. I am in a dilemma about how to go. It would have been fine if I had reached Rs 22,000 till home, that fare is only up to Dhangadhi,” he said. <\/p>\n
Similarly, for Pradeep Karki, this time the journey has become more than a choice. Although he has to reach home as soon as possible as his father is ill at home, he is facing problems due to the high cost of air tickets. <\/p>\n
“I have to go even if I am compelled. My father is ill at home, I had to reach early. The plane ticket is very expensive,” he said. <\/p>\n
He said that transportation should be made easy and accessible during Dashain for passengers who are compelled like him. Another passenger, Garima Shah, also said that she was preparing to buy her air ticket after being pressured to come early from home, but she had to cancel her ticket after the price of the ticket became expensive <\/p>\n
“He told me to come early from home. I had said that I would buy a plane ticket and come early. But when the fare became expensive, I had to cancel the plane ticket,” she said. <\/p>\n
With the increasing number of people returning home from different parts of the country during Dashain, transportation fare and ease of travel have become the main concerns. The condition of roads, long distances and limited air service have become the main challenges for the passengers going to the hilly districts of the Far-West and Karnali. <\/p>\n
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Balendra Shah, who was in the Far-West during the election campaign, had written on social media that ‘Sudur ab dur nai, jhikai jhikai jhikai maya tamlai’. His statement was made public during his visit to the Far-Western Region. <\/p>\n
But now the citizens of the Far-West, who are trying to return home during Dashain, are compelled to pay expensive transportation costs and long journeys. Therefore, passengers have started asking questions. When will the feeling of ‘far-flung now far’ be seen in practice? <\/p>\n
On the other hand, Buddha Air’s spokesperson Dipendra Karna claims that the airfare is not expensive. He has urged the passengers not to cheat from any place and requested to go to the official website of Buddha Air and buy tickets only after checking the fare. <\/p>\n
