Kathmandu. Dilli Harijan, who has been on a hunger strike demanding subsistence allowance for MBBS and BDS intern doctors, has ended his hunger strike after signing an agreement with the government. <\/p>\n
He ended his hunger strike after signing an agreement between the Ministry of Education and Sports, Medical Education Commission and Harijan on Friday. Harijan had been staging a fast-unto-death since October 1 at the premises of the Medical Education Commission. As per the agreement, the demand for monthly subsistence allowance of MBBS and BDS interns will be presented in the next meeting of the Medical Education Commission.<\/p>\n
Earlier, the first point of the agreement signed between the Ministry and Harijan on August 22 had incorporated this issue. <\/p>\n
Likewise, point 2, 3, 4 and 5 of other demands mentioned in the agreement are being addressed by the Commission and will be addressed in the coming days as well. <\/p>\n
Harijan had been on a hunger strike earlier as well, pressuring him to address the demands of intern doctors including subsistence allowance. He has been on a hunger strike again demanding the implementation of the agreement reached earlier. <\/p>\n
Joint Secretary at the Ministry of Education and Sports Jayram Adhikari and Member Secretary of Medical Education Commission Hari Prasad Niraula signed the agreement on Friday.<\/p>\n
Medical students Resham Bista, Santosh Chaudhary and Maheshwor Adhikari were present at the signing ceremony. <\/p>\n<\/p>\n
