Now, along with its history, the future should also be considered and modern, useful to life and citizen-centered service.” He said that with the development of modern technology, the needs of the citizens and the way of receiving services have changed, adding that the postal service needs need to be made timely. He said that the postal network spread across the country could be developed as an effective means of delivering government services and materials to the doorsteps of the citizens. Stating that the government was implementing a plan to restructure the postal service to provide easy, fast and reliable service to the citizens, he stressed the need of result-oriented and exemplary works for the improvement of this sector. postage stamp has been introduced commemorating the personalities who have contributed to the unification and nation building of Nepal to the personalities who have played a significant role in the development of world technology. <\/p>\n
The Department of Postal Services has issued postage stamps bearing the photographs of Bise Nagarchi and Bangay Sarki who contributed to the unification and nation building of Nepal, Kulbir Thapa Magar and Karna Bahadur Rana Magar, who were awarded the Victoria Cross in the First World War and John Logie Baird on the occasion of the centenary of the invention of television. The department has issued a ticket bearing the portrait of the deceased at Rs 10 per ticket. In the program, Minister for Communications Dr. Timilsina gave a stamp on the first day of the postal stamp. On the same occasion, Chairman of the National Dalit Commission, Devraj Bishwakarma, said that the state has honored the historical contribution of the Dalit community with the release of postage stamps with the pictures of Bise Nagarchi and Wange Sarki. Stating that the postal service remains useful even in the present time with the rapid development of information technology, he said that it is necessary to develop it as a modern courier service. Similarly, Communications Secretary Rajendra Kumar Poudel said that the postal service should be made an effective medium of expansion of public service in the changed context. Stating that the postal service could be provided to the doorsteps of the citizens as a government courier service by utilizing the postal network spread up to the local levels across the country, he said the postal service was reviving itself. Stressing on the need to make the postal service modern, competitive and technology-friendly, Secretary Poudel stressed the need of collaboration with the private sector and healthy competition. He said that the postal service could provide more easy and reliable service to the citizens if the countrywide reach of the government mechanism could be effectively utilized. Manmaya Bhattarai Pangeni, Director General of the Department of Postal Services, said that the postal service is still relevant in the world.<\/p>\n
He said that it was a matter of pride to receive an international award especially for the role played by the Postal Post Office in providing services to the remote areas. <\/p>\n
According to him, the postal service is gradually moving forward in the smart concept and entering the phase of modernization. He said that its reach and effectiveness should be increased by changing technology and changing the nature of the service according to the needs of the citizens. <\/p>\n
