Kathmandu. The Nepal Army has handed over the 240-feet long Acro Bridge constructed over the Falaku River at Betrawati on the border of Nuwakot and Rasuwa to the Galchhi-Rasuwagadhi Road Project. <\/p>\n
The army said it handed over the bridge to the project on Sunday. The army constructed an acro bridge over the Falaku river as part of the reconstruction of the road and bridges damaged by the devastating floods in Bhotekoshi on August 25, 2008. Before the construction of the bridge, the Nepal Army had constructed an access road by breaking the hard rocks on the road section of about 300 meters. After that, the work of connecting the bridge, which started on October 20, was completed on October 10, according to the army. <\/p>\n
The newly built bridge is 240 feet (73.2 m) long and 18 feet (5.5 m) wide. It has the capacity to carry a maximum load of 40 tons. <\/p>\n
The operation of the bridge is expected to ease the movement of residents of Nuwakot, Rasuwa and surrounding areas. It is also believed that it will help in transporting relief materials and other essential goods to the flood-affected areas. <\/p>\n<\/p>\n
