Kathmandu. So far, 82 people including nine foreign nationals have been rescued from the flash floods in the Budhi Gandaki River in Gorkha. Five people have been left out of contact and houses, bridges, hydropower projects and other physical structures have been badly damaged by the floods. <\/p>\n
According to a press note issued by the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority at 6:00 pm on Sunday, the Syarkhola was blocked due to the flow of mud from the Ungilung River near Chumling of Chumling of Chumnubri Rural Municipality-6 in Gorkha district. Further investigation is underway to find out the exact cause of the incident, according to the NRA. Five people, two women and three men, have gone missing due to floods at Ungilung of Chumchet in Chumchet of Chumnutri Rural Municipality-6. According to the preliminary details made public by the NRA, 45 houses have been completely damaged and 27 houses have been partially damaged by the floods. Similarly, two concrete bridges and two suspension bridges have been damaged. The floods damaged three hydropower projects and also damaged four Hawankunds. In addition, 34 cowsheds, 12 pig sheds and godowns and three vehicles were damaged, according to preliminary reports.<\/p>\n
The actual extent of the damage is likely to increase further as the details of the damage are being updated. <\/p>\n
Four helicopters of the Nepal Army have been mobilized to rescue people from the flood-affected areas. So far, 82 people have been evacuated to safer places by helicopter. As soon as the information about <\/p>\n
the floods was received, the NRA had sent a notice via SMS to 221 resistance cadres of the center including Gorkha, Dhading, Tanahun, Chitwan, Nawalparasi East and Nawalparasi West. <\/p>\n
Similarly, the Flood Forecasting Division (Flood Forecasting Division) had sent prior information through SMS to the people up to Benighat of Chitwan via Gorkha, Dhading after receiving the information at 6 am. According to the NRA, 703 security personnel including Nepal Army, Nepal Police and Armed Police Force have been deployed in the flood-affected areas. Of them, 171 are from the Nepal Army, 143 from the Nepal Police and 389 from the Armed Police Force. Three special forces have also been deployed in the Nepal Army team. The meeting of the Disaster Response Command Post under the chairmanship of Dharma Raj Upreti is being held continuously and coordination is being made with the bodies concerned for flood monitoring, damage analysis and rescue and relief work. <\/p>\n
Similarly, a meeting of the disaster mobilization team was held to review the work done so far, update the details of the damage and discuss the future response plan. The NRA has said that relief materials have been sent to the flood-affected people by road and air. Tents, tarpaulins, mattresses, blankets, sleeping bags, solar lights, kitchen items, generators, jackets, hygiene kits, food baskets, baby baskets and other materials have been sent to the affected areas. -member technical team including a drone and a geologist has been mobilized to the affected areas to find out the exact cause of the floods. <\/p>\n
District level rapid response teams of Gorkha, Lamjung and Tanahun districts have been kept on standby to provide immediate health services to the people likely to be affected by floods. Similarly, emergency medical teams of hospitals in Gorkha, Tanahun and Lamjung have also been kept on standby. Preparations have been made to provide necessary health services through the Ministry of Health and Food Hygiene and the Ministry of Health of Gandaki Province.
