Nepali Congress (NC) candidate for the post of General Secretary of the party, Nain Singh Mahar, has congratulated the newly elected party president and all the office-bearers and wished them a successful tenure. <\/p>\n He has also expressed his heartfelt gratitude to all the leaders, general convention delegates and well-wishers for their support, cooperation, goodwill and confidence in his campaign. Making it clear that the resolve to change the Nepali Congress was not limited to any post or election result, Mahar said that the party would continue its journey for reconstruction, transformation of political culture and positive change in the society. <\/p>\n Let the aspiration to change the Congress be realized and the resolve to change will be fulfilled. Mahar has been of the view that politics should be changed for social change, political culture should be changed to change politics and positive change in the conduct, character and face of the leadership should be changed to change the political culture. There should be honesty in conduct, integrity in character and faith in face. Novelty in thought, decency in behavior and results in deeds,” he said on Facebook, clarifying his political commitment. He also pledged to remain active in the campaign of making Nepali Congress timely, ideology-driven, accountable to the people and result-oriented. He said that he would move ahead his role in a more responsible manner in favor of democratic practice, institutional strengthening, mutual cooperation and positive change within the party. Mahar’s message has tried to connect the competition of the general convention with the larger journey of transformation of the party by rising above individual victories and defeats.
