Question on allegations of domestic violence and financial dealings against proposed ambassador Sunar<\/strong><\/p>\n Kathmandu. Rastriya Swatantra Party (Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) lawmaker Madhu Kumar Chaulagain has raised questions about domestic violence, financial dealings and political impartiality against the proposed ambassador to Saudi Arabia, Giri Bahadur Sunar. <\/p>\n In a meeting of the Parliamentary Hearing Committee (PHC) held on Wednesday, Chaulagain demanded the government to clarify that Sunar had reached out to the police on the charge of domestic violence against women and had extorted money from him in the name of promotion and post of lawmaker. <\/p>\n ‘You are here for the hearing. Don’t try to lose patience by getting angry with our bitter questions, good luck in advance,’ he said. <\/p>\n Chaulagain also said that Sunar has been accused of extorting millions of rupees while working as a Dalit activist. <\/p>\n ‘You are accused of domestic violence against women and that you reached the Lalitpur police in this case. Secondly, you are accused of extorting crores of rupees while working as a Dalit activist. There are serious financial allegations that you extorted money from a DIG of Nepal Police on the pretext of promoting him to the post of AIG, and also took money to get him a parliamentary post. Please clarify the matter,” he said. <\/p>\n Chaulagain also questioned Sunar’s political affiliation. He demanded to clarify whether he would be eligible for the post of ambassador on the basis of political impartiality as he was a central member of the Nepal Party. <\/p>\n ‘You should be aware that you are affiliated to our Nepal Party as a central member and are not eligible for the post of ambassador due to lack of political impartiality. Have you broken that affiliation or not?’ he asked. <\/p>\n Responding to a question from lawmaker Chaulagain, Sunar claimed that he was involved in the campaign against violence against women.<\/p>\n Stating that various media had published positive news and articles about her campaign, she said she had also written articles on women’s rights and human trafficking. <\/p>\n ‘I myself am an activist who spreads violence against women. Nagarik Daily, Kathmandu Post, Nari Patrika have written positively about my campaign. I have written a lot of articles about the trafficking of women in Saudi Arabia and other countries. I have written about the rights of many other women,” he said. <\/p>\n Sunar questioned that the incident was brought up 13 years ago after he was recommended as ambassador. He claimed that the incident took place during the time when they were in a love affair and at that time there was an argument on the phone about financial transactions. <\/p>\n ‘When the ambassador is being recommended today, what is the intention of removing what happened 13 years ago today? I have a question for everyone,” he said, “13 years ago, we were in love. In the middle of that, he went to some country. It was about our transaction, there was an argument on the phone.” He also claimed that no FIR has been registered against him so far. <\/p>\n ‘You are speaking against me with a power of attorney.
