Kathmandu. Nepali Congress senior vice-president Bishwa Prakash Sharma has accused the incumbent government of focusing on political tug-of-war by going beyond the problems of the people and national priorities. <\/p>\n
Speaking at a press meet organized by the Nepali Congress on Wednesday, he said the rumors of financial irregularities spread in the market regarding the party’s special general convention were baseless and planned. He said raising unnecessary questions at a time when the special general convention was held as per the Nepali Congress statute and the Election Commission has already updated it, adding unnecessary questions to the general convention representatives, the Election Commission and the Supreme Court.<\/p>\n
He said, “At this time, a very nonsensical thing is being discussed in the market at this time. The Party Related Act, 2073 recognizes the statute of the Nepali Congress. It recognizes the statute of the political parties, it recognizes the constitution. Accordingly, the special general convention was held as per Article 17 (2) of the constitution of the Nepali Congress party. After the special convention, we have now reached the 15th general convention. He said that it was planned to publicize the special convention saying that there was financial manipulation in the special convention. He expressed suspicion that such issues were sponsored by certain bodies of the government and brought to the market. <\/p>\n
“It is an insult to the delegates of the Nepali Congress party to take it to the market in a planned manner to sponsor it from a certain house of the government,” he said. <\/p>\n
Sharma said that the Election Commission had updated the details of the party after the special general convention and the Supreme Court had also upheld the EC’s decision in the case filed against it. <\/p>\n
He said, “The case was filed in the honorable court. The debate went on for a long time. After the arguments, the court gave a verdict on April 19, 2083 and said in its order that the update made by the Election Commission was correct. Now weaving, weaving and sharing the story of crores in a sponsored manner is also an insult to the delegates of the Congress, an insult to the Election Commission and also a contempt of the respected Supreme Court. In the press conference , Sharma also questioned the government’s priorities. He said that the government should be serious about issues like climate change, disaster management and rehabilitation of the affected citizens. <\/p>\n
He said that before going to Turkey to attend the COP31 conference, the government should discuss climate change and disaster at the national level. However, he accused the government of not paying enough attention to it. <\/p>\n
“When COP-31 is going to be held in Turkey after five days, there should be a discussion at the national level, there should be a discussion at the national level, we have said that we are with the government,” he said, “Have you heard that the government is holding discussions at the national level before going to COP-31?” <\/p>\n
He also accused the government of forgetting the plight of the people affected by the disaster in the Bhotekoshi region. He also stressed that the government should take seriously the issues shown by various studies about the risk of glacial lake outburst. <\/p>\n
‘There are 47 glacial lakes in this part of our land that are at risk and are in the state of erupting at any time. Of them, 21 are in Nepal, one in India and 24-25 in China,” he said. <\/p>\n
Sharma said that the government has not provided the house rent amount announced to the disaster-affected people on time. He said that the affected people have not received the expected assistance for relief and rehabilitation as Dashain has passed and Tihar is approaching. <\/p>\n
He said, “The money that the government had promised to provide Rs 15,0 <\/p>\n
00 a month in rent to the survivors has not been released for two months.” Therefore, the government’s priority should be there, but it has gone beyond the priority of where the government is sitting, what it is doing. “<\/p>\n
Similarly, Sharma also criticized the government over the removal of the Inspector General of Police (IGP). He questioned the government’s priorities, saying that the issue of changing the police leadership was taken forward without a transparent investigation and a clear basis. <\/p>\n
Stating that there was no uniformity in the statements of the government spokesperson and the spokesperson of the ruling party, he commented that there was political confusion and excitement in Singha Durbar and Baluwatar. <\/p>\n
‘What is the government’s priority today? On removing the IG of Police. Is this the national need of the moment? Is this a matter of priority? What does the spokesperson of the government say when he says that the investigation was done in a transparent manner, without clearing each and every one, what is the reason, what case, on the basis of what facts? It was removed on the instructions of the party. What does the spokesperson of the party say within an hour of your publication? Our instructions have not been given,” he said. <\/p>\n
He added, “Write, Ramita is going on in Singha Durbar. Write, Ramita is going on in Baluwatar. The present government is not using the votes given by the voters of this country with such great hope and faith. Sharma urged the government to prioritise the national need, rehabilitation of disaster-affected people, mitigation of climate risk and good governance rather than getting entangled in political disputes.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
