The provincial government is to implement a ‘one-door system’ to remove administrative hassles faced by tourists at Belahiya border point, the main land route to enter Nepal. Two ministers of Lumbini Province have pledged to make the movement of tourists easy and systematic by systematizing the tourist information center at Belhiya. <\/p>\n Minister for Economic Affairs and Planning of Lumbini Province Indrajit Tharu and Minister for Urban Development, Energy, Irrigation and Water Supply Santosh Kumar Pandey made this commitment while inspecting the Tourist Information Center at Belahiya. During the inspection, the ministers said that tourists entering Nepal should get easy, quick and effective service at the point of entry of the border. They said that the information center should be made systematic and effective as the first point for tourists to enter Nepal is the initial experience of the country’s identity and hospitality. Minister for Economic Affairs and Planning Indrajit Tharu said Belahiya border point should be systematic, convenient and tourist-friendly as it is the first contact point for tourists entering Nepal.<\/p>\n He said that if the tourists coming to Nepal can have a good experience at the entry point, it will have a positive impact on the promotion of tourism in the whole country. He expressed commitment that the provincial government would support and facilitate the effective operation of the Tourist Information Center and to add necessary services and facilities. <\/p>\n Similarly, Minister Pandey said that the one-door system will be implemented soon to end the checking and administrative hassles seen at the Belahiya checkpoint. He said that there is no need to wait for many months for this. <\/p>\n According to the proposed arrangement, tourists entering Nepal and their vehicles will be checked at the same place as before. For this, arrangements will be made for the joint presence of the Armed Police Force (APF), Nepal Police, Customs Office and Traffic Police. <\/p>\n After the completion of the necessary checks by all the agencies, a special card will be provided to the tourists. The card can be affixed to the vehicle or kept with it. After this, the hassle of checking again by stopping at different places on the road will be removed and the necessary process can be confirmed on the basis of the card itself, said Minister Pandey.<\/p>\n The one-door system is expected to ease the travel of Indian tourists and foreign tourists entering Nepal via land routes. It is believed that this will reduce unnecessary obstacles at the border area, save time of tourists and help in building Nepal’s tourism-friendly image. <\/p>\n On the occasion, Minister for Economic Affairs and Planning Tharu and Minister Pandey also pledged to provide necessary support and policy arrangement from the provincial government for the expansion and management of tourist information center. Belhiya is the main gateway for foreign tourists coming to Lumbini, the birthplace of Gautam Buddha and the surrounding tourist destinations. However, after entering the border, tourists have to face problems in the information, facilitation and processes of various agencies.
