KATHMANDU \u2014 Coordinator of the Communist Party of Nepal (CPN) Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has said that Karnali State, the origin of Nepal’s language, history and culture, has been neglected for a long time. <\/p>\n
Speaking at a book ‘Karnali, Neglect and Light’ organized in the capital on Saturday, he said that the Khas Province i. e. Sinja valley and Karnali region, which are the mother of Nepal’s language, culture and history, have not been in the priority of the state. He said that although a country should give priority to the development and preservation of the origin of its language, culture and history, it is quite the opposite. He said, “The place from where Nepal’s language, history and culture originated was neglected by the state for many years and attempts were made to focus more elsewhere.” Prachanda said that the Karnali region has made a great contribution to the people’s war and political change and the participation of the oppressed classes, Dalits, poor, workers, farmers and women is remarkable. He said that Dalit women, especially of Karnali, have stood in the front line of the revolt. <\/p>\n
He accused the state and the mainstream intellectual community of not properly establishing the historical contribution made by Karnali. He said that although the country has reached the federal democratic republic due to the sacrifices made by the oppressed communities of Karnali, some sides are not ready to accept its historical importance. <\/p>\n
Prachanda said that after the political change, the transformation of the Nepali people from the peasants to the sovereign empowered citizens is a big achievement. Stating that development should not be limited to physical infrastructure only, he described the consciousness of the citizens, political rights and participation in the decision-making process as an important basis of development. <\/p>\n
He said that the expansion of the road network has been given priority for the development and prosperity of the areas neglected by the state, including Karnali. He said that the construction of the Mid-Hill Highway and the road corridor connecting the east-west and north-south was a priority after he became the leader of the republican government for the first time. <\/p>\n
He said that the expansion of the road network has made it easier to take the products of Karnali to other areas and bring the products of other regions to Karnali. “There is no such big Mahabharata now to bring the apple of Jumla or the production of Humla to the Tarai or the grain crop of the Terai,” he said. <\/p>\n
He also said that efforts have been taken to forward the Karnali-Chisapani 10,800 MW project, Tila-1 and Tila-2 projects for the prosperity of Karnali. He also said that an agreement in principle has been reached to forward the construction of Hilsa-Surkhet road with Chinese assistance. He also expressed dissatisfaction over the performance of the incumbent government and said that the situation of journalists, bureaucrats and political leaders in the country was becoming uncertain.<\/p>\n
He said, “At a time when we are campaigning for good governance over corruption, the corrupt are stronger than us fighting against corruption in Nepal and the middlemen are stronger in Nepal.” \u2019<\/p><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
