Kathmandu. Home Minister Sudhan Gurung has issued a detailed clarification on the controversy over the shares linked to his name through Facebook. He urged to be proved, based on facts and evidences, in the context of various allegations and discussions that have been going on in recent days. <\/p>\n
Denying the allegation that shares worth Rs 2.5 million were hidden, Gurung said he had already clearly mentioned in the property details of more than Rs 20 million in the securities market. According to him, the investments made in Star Micro Insurance and Liberty Micro are also included in the same group, which is not hidden but only a matter of classification. <\/p>\n
Responding to the allegation that he bought shares before becoming a minister, he said that investing in shares is not a crime. He said that all the transactions were done through banking channels and there is a clear record of it. <\/p>\n
Clarifying the source, he said that the money used for the investment was raised through a loan and as per the memorandum dated 2080\u00f705\u00f729, the money came through the banking channel. “Where the money came from is not a matter of conjecture, but it is a matter of paper and bank records,” he said. <\/p>\n
Responding to the accusation of ‘partnership with a controversial person’, he argued that buying shares is not a partnership with everyone as there are hundreds and thousands of shareholders in the same company. He said that not all investors can be blamed on that basis. <\/p>\n
Regarding the allegations of ‘conflict of interest’, he said that the responsibility of investigation is not with the Ministry of Home Affairs but with the Department of Money Laundering under the Ministry of Finance and the same body is looking into the matter as per the procedure. He also claimed that there was no interference in the investigation process. <\/p>\n
On the issue of investment without background check, he said that risk is natural in business investment and all future conditions are not known in advance. He said that it was not appropriate to blame the subsequent incident with the previous decision. <\/p>\n
He also made it clear that he did not immediately respond to the issue as it was a sensitive matter of law. “Rumours spread quickly, but the truth comes with evidence,” he said. <\/p>\n
Stating that truth and accusation are different subjects, he said the decision should be made on the basis of evidence. He also pledged to abide by every decision taken by the party and fully cooperate in the investigation.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
