Kathmandu. The Press Council Nepal has drawn serious attention to the increasing incidents of violation of the journalist code of conduct while monitoring the content disseminated in the media. In a notice released by the Press Council Nepal on Friday, it has been stated that complaints and public complaints against the journalist code of conduct have been increasing in recent days. According to the council, there is a tendency to publish baseless, unconfirmed and misleading materials in such complaints. <\/p>\n
The council has also received complaints that some media outlets and media persons are pressuring in the name of advertisements and, if rejected, disseminate false content that will affect the reputation of the organization. Similarly, the council has said that the tendency to share content without evidence on social media, making short videos (reels) and presenting them in an exaggerated manner is also increasing. <\/p>\n
According to the Council, journalists in Banke, Pyuthan, Dang, Arghakhanchi and Kailali among other districts are entering government offices without permission, recording videos, asking questions and later submitting bills claiming that they have disseminated information. <\/p>\n
The Press Council has urged to stop such activities immediately, saying that such activities are against the professional conduct of journalism. The Council has made it clear that it is imperative to follow the journalist code of conduct to make the media sector free, dignified and credible. It also informed that if false or misleading material is published, the affected person or organization can file a complaint with the Council. <\/p>\n
The Council has warned of stern action against fake information, baseless material, character assassination and threatening activities through social sites.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
