Kathmandu. According to the preliminary estimates made public by the National Statistical Office, the size of Nepal’s economy is expected to reach Rs 6.6 trillion in consumer value in the fiscal year 2082\/83. <\/p>\n

The size of the economy was Rs 6.199 trillion in 2081\/82 and Rs 5.76 trillion in 2080\/81. The office has prepared this national account estimate on the basis of actual data of 6 to 8 months and projection for the remaining period. Nepal’s economic growth is projected to be 3.85 percent in consumer prices and 3.68 percent in basic prices this year. <\/p>\n

In the previous fiscal year 2081\/82, the revised economic growth rate was estimated to be 4.43 percent. The contribution of the service sector to the GDP is projected to be 61.8 per cent, followed by primary sector at 24.5 per cent and secondary sector at 13.7 per cent. <\/p>\n

Regionally, the electricity and gas sector is expected to witness the highest growth rate of 20.93 percent. The main reason for this is the start of electricity generation from new projects and the expansion of transmission infrastructure. On the other hand, the growth rate of the agriculture sector is expected to slow down to 1.58 percent. Particularly, the contribution of the agriculture sector has been reduced due to the decline in paddy production by 4.16 percent and the growth of crops like maize and wheat. <\/p>\n

There has been some fluctuation in the per capita income this year. Due to the high increase in the exchange rate, the per capita GDP is expected to fall slightly from last year to $1,513. However, the per capita gross national disposable income is expected to rise to $2,044. Remittances from foreign employment have played an important role in the increase in disposable income, which is expected to reach 33.02 percent of GDP this year. <\/p>\n

Among other key economic indicators, total national savings are estimated at 44.77 per cent of GDP and total fixed capital formation at 26.26 per cent. As per the provisional data, exports account for 9.97 per cent and imports at 34.52 per cent. The growth rate of the construction sector is expected to be limited to 2.21 percent due to the lack of significant improvement in the government’s capital expenditure. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
