Kathmandu. The meeting of the Council of Ministers has been called at 10:30 am today. The government is preparing to scrap some ministries and merge them with a new name. <\/p>\n
According to sources, the draft of the merger and dissolution of the ministry will be discussed in today’s cabinet meeting. According to a source at the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers, four ministries are being scrapped. Likewise, the task of naming the other 6 ministries has reached the final stage. <\/p>\n
“Four ministries will be scrapped and 6 will be renamed. Some of them will be separated from the existing ministries and kept under the Prime Minister,” a source at the Prime Minister’s Office said. <\/p>\n
The government had also formed a 5-member task force under the coordination of Secretary at the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers, Govinda Bahadur Karki, to prepare a draft on merger and dissolution of ministries. The taskforce had proposed to have 17 ministries in the federal government.
