Kathmandu. Prime Minister Balen Shah has said that concrete steps have been taken to reform the schools and bureaucracy in view of the growing partisan influence. Writing on social media on Tuesday, he said the trend of distributing opportunities on the basis of access and political affiliation rather than merit and capacity has weakened people’s faith in the state system. <\/p>\n
He wrote, “Partyization has spoiled the students and the bureaucracy. Over the years, many organizations have become “sleeper cells” of the party more than the interests of the students and employees. The price of accessibility was increased over ability, bags and flags were increased more than capacity. This undermined people’s faith in the system. \u2019<\/p>\n
The Rastriya Swatantra Party made it clear that the decision to remove partisan politics from schools and bureaucracy was taken for reforming the system, not for the sake of building an organization. <\/p>\n
“The Rastriya Swatantra Party has not done anything to remove partisan politics from schools and bureaucracy because it has not been able to build an organization. If you want, you can form a big student and employee organization today. But the past has shown that adding another partisan organization neither improves the quality of education nor protects the dignity of employees,” he said. <\/p>\n
He said the government has introduced a policy to prohibit the political flag in schools and partisan influence on the bureaucracy through the ordinance. It is believed that this will strengthen professional freedom and not take away rights. <\/p>\n
“It is an attempt to bring the country out of partisan occupation and on the institutional path. This is an attempt to free the school and bureaucracy from the partisan transition. Therefore, as per your wishes, we have removed these distortions through an ordinance. \u2019<\/p>\n
The Prime Minister said that this initiative was not against any political party but an effort to save the system and future. <\/p>\n
