Kathmandu. Iran has imposed new rules to control maritime movement in the Strait of Hormuz, considered one of the world’s most strategic waterways. Under the new system, all ships passing through the waterway will have to obtain a transit permit. <\/p>\n
According to Iranian state media, electronic instructions will be sent to shipping companies through the Persian Gulf and Straits Authority, which will include new rules and guidance. It has been clarified that one cannot enter the waterways without following these rules. <\/p>\n
Iran said the move was “in line with its sovereign rights”. Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf blamed the safety of waterways on the impact of the activities of the United States and its allies and called for a new policy. <\/p>\n
At the same time, the naval branch of Iran’s Revolutionary Guard Corps has also increased strict surveillance in the waterway area. It has warned all ships to use only designated sea routes. It has also warned of military action if it deviates from the designated route. <\/p>\n
