Finance Minister Dr Swarnim Wagle has accused a group of people of amassing huge wealth by misusing Rs 15-16 billion in the capital market. Speaking at a meeting of the Finance Committee on Tuesday, Minister Wagle claimed that some influential groups were trying to capture the financial system by manipulating the market, insider trading and creating artificial influence. <\/p>\n<p>According to him, such activities have a serious impact not only on economic but also on political institutions. &#8220;We have to accept the fact that financial and financial institutions have come under the control of a few people in the last few years,&#8221; he said. There was a situation where 15-16 billion rupees were accumulated through market manipulation and insider trading by misusing public money. Finance Minister Dr Wagle said such groups have tried to influence the political leadership and weakened the country&#8217;s economic and political institutions. <\/p>\n<p>He described the recent changes as a result of the Gen-G movement, which he said had saved the country from a potential misdirection. &#8220;The government is now fully prioritizing good governance,&#8221; he said. &#8220;The government&#8217;s strategy is to prepare a base for good governance in the first year followed by development construction,&#8221; he quoted the Prime Minister as saying. He also said that the government aims to develop Nepal&#8217;s capital market in a transparent, commercial and international standard. <\/p>\n<p>He further said that preparations are underway to implement the report on stock exchange restructuring.
