Private Equity Association of Nepal (PPA) has urged the government to prepare a clear legal basis for the private equity and venture capital (PE-VC) sector. The memorandum submitted to Finance Minister Swarnim Wagle states that foreign investment could not be attracted due to existing legal ambiguities and policy weaknesses. <\/p>\n<p>The Association has demanded that the definition of the fund, the basis of operation and the liability of the investors should be clarified in the Securities Act, 2063. It has also been suggested to make legal provisions that the PE-VC fund can be operated on a &#8216;trust&#8217; or &#8216;limited liability partnership&#8217; model. <\/p>\n<p>The Association has also urged the government to ease the foreign investment approval process, remove the double taxation and review the &#8216;blacklist&#8217; of the Nepal Rastra Bank. According to the Securities Board of Nepal (SEBON), there are 13 private equity and venture capital funds operating in the country.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Kathmandu.
