Kathmandu. Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) lawmaker Jagadish Kharel has expressed serious concern over the theft of historical heritages and ancient idols in Lalitpur. <\/p>\n
Speaking at the meeting of the House of Representatives on Tuesday, he said that an ironic situation has arisen in Lalitpur, a city rich in heritage and civilization, that ‘God should protect us but we should protect God’. <\/p>\n
Lalitpur Region No. Lawmaker Kharel of Province No. 2 said that ancient statues and historical hitis are disappearing in his municipality and encroachment on heritage sites is increasing. <\/p>\n
“It is said that God protects us, but in my city, now the time has come to say protect God,” he said. Idols have been stolen, Hittites have disappeared. In some places, there is a need for excavation, while in others, encroachment has increased. \u2019<\/p>\n
He also raised the issue of the missing ‘Hiti Mang’, which is nine feet long and weighs around 90 kg, which is kept on both sides of the ‘Dhoma’ which is used in the 1600-year-old historic ‘Rato Machhindranath’ procession. <\/p>\n
