Kathmandu. KATHMANDU \u2014 Prime Minister Balendra Shah has said that the government was studying to provide voting rights to Nepali citizens living abroad. Responding to a query raised by lawmaker Mahabir Pun on Sunday, the Prime Minister shared that discussions were underway regarding voting through diplomatic mission or via mobile technology as two options for voting for the Nepalis living abroad. <\/p>\n
According to him, special precaution is necessary as there is a risk of external influence while voting through mobile phones. <\/p>\n
“I feel that Nepalis living abroad are confused with the issue of not being influenced by anyone while voting. Free voting should be ensured,” he said. <\/p>\n
He also directed the Minister for Information Technology to make necessary arrangements to find out which model would be appropriate for the upcoming elections. <\/p>\n
He said, “We are discussing whether to vote at the embassy or by making it technology-friendly. We have to study what can be done in the next election. I would also like to direct the IT Minister to make arrangements for this immediately. \u2019<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
