Kathmandu. Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) lawmaker Gyanendra Shahi said the statements made by the head of the government should be based on facts, evidence and reality. Speaking at the meeting of the House of Representatives on Monday, lawmaker Shahi said although there is freedom of expression in a democracy, the expression of the person leading the government should be responsible. <\/p>\n
He questioned the statement made by the Prime Minister in the Parliament and demanded that the statements without any facts be removed from the record of the Parliament. “There is freedom of expression in a democracy but the expression of the person leading the government should also be responsible. There is a difference between the gossip in the tea shop and the speech of the parliament. What ordinary citizens and ordinary people say is different. Therefore, the Prime Minister’s statements should be based on facts, evidences and facts. Without statistics, speech can be political speech. But that cannot be the basis for running the state. \u2019<\/p>\n
Stating that the Prime Minister’s statements should be based on data, evidence and reality, he said statement without facts could be political speech but could not be base for running the State. Raising the issue of Nepal-India border, Shahi urged the government to present the evidence before the parliament if India has claimed that it has encroached on Nepali territory. Stating that statements misleading the people without evidences should not be made, he said the government itself should be wary of such activities. <\/p>\n
“Emotions can get applause,” he said. But only facts can win trust. If India has encroached on Nepal’s border with the government, I appeal to you to present it before the honorable parliament. If not, then the government itself should avoid making statements that mislead the people. I appeal to remove the facts that the Prime Minister spoke in Parliament without facts from the record of Parliament. \u2019<\/p>\n
