Kathmandu. KATHMANDU: Nepal Tourism Board (NTB) has published a new and updated guideline to make the security, entry process and excursion process more systematic for tourists visiting Nepal via land routes. The Board has made this request in view of the increase in the number of tourists coming to Nepal via land route in recent times and their ease. <\/p>\n
One has to obtain permission to enter Nepal through the online or physical system of the Department of Customs. Upon arriving at the border, the customs officer will have to provide the list of passengers in the vehicle, age, gender, period of stay in Nepal and places of visit. <\/p>\n
Although a visa is not required for Indian citizens, a valid passport or voter ID card is mandatory. The board has also requested for regular checking of passengers and vehicles for safety. <\/p>\n
Tourists have been requested to keep their vehicles in safe condition in view of the geographical complexity of the hilly area and the narrow roads. The board has recommended that drivers of Indian vehicles should be aware of the geography and weather conditions of Nepal and drive vehicles safely. <\/p>\n
The board has encouraged tourists to carry first aid kits and regular medicines. Tourists going to high altitudes like Muktinath (3800 meters) have been urged to make arrangements for oxygen and be aware of the problem of high altitude. <\/p>\n
According to the Tourism Board, disposal of garbage other than the designated place or dustbin has been prohibited while managing the garbage. <\/p>\n
They have been urged to respect local traditions, culture and sacred places and to wear dignified attire. Consumption or sale of marijuana is illegal in Nepal. Alcohol should be used in a balanced manner. <\/p>\n
Indian tourists will be allowed to carry a maximum of $5,000 in cash. Digital payment is easily available in many tourist destinations. <\/p>\n
Trekkers must only travel through registered guides. Also, you will have to declare your gold, silver or valuable jewelry while entering, so that there will be no hassle at the time of departure. <\/p>\n
Similarly, tourists have been urged to contact the tourism police or tourism board’s office for emergency contact in case of any inconvenience in course of travel. <\/p>\n
