Kathmandu. The forest staff in Kailali has been heavily criticized after a video of the employees dropping a tempo from a cliff while removing forest encroachment has gone viral. The forest staff dumped a tempo used to sell retail goods at Baspani of Godavari Municipality-4 along the Bhimdutta Highway. <\/p>\n
The forest staff has claimed that the tempo is in a dilapidated condition, but the victim’s family says that the tempo is in good condition.\u00a0The victim’s family used to carry goods in tempos from their homes every day at Gaimare of Godavari Municipality-4. <\/p>\n
“The tempo was in good condition and we used to use the same tempo to commute to and from home every morning and evening,” said one of the victims, Dhanadevi Dhami. We used to go home in the same tempo in the morning and evening, and we used to carry our luggage in the same tempo. \u2019<\/p>\n
According to Dhami, after the employees took out the goods inside the tempo, she asked them to take the tempo home. However, the employees ignored it and pushed the tempo off the road into the cliff. After the incident, dissatisfaction has been expressed at the local level against the behavior of the forest office. <\/p>\n
Issuing a joint statement, the employees of the Division Forest Office, Kailali have made their opinion public about the incident. <\/p>\n
The statement claimed that the information circulating on social media that the forest staff deliberately dropped the tempo from the cliff was misleading. According to forest officials, a campaign has been launched to control illegal encroachment as the area is a sensitive forest area under the Chure. <\/p>\n
According to the joint statement, the GSA tempo was said to be in poor working condition, the wheels and engine were completely damaged and it was difficult to push. The forest officials claimed that the tempo was used as a tent for the purpose of running a shop in the encroached forest area. <\/p>\n
According to the staff, the tempo operator Ghanashyam Dhami was instructed to remove the structure while removing the encroachment about a month ago and he had ignored the removal of 10 other huts. <\/p>\n
At that time, the employees pushed the tempo to the house but later brought it back to the same place and the shop was reopened, the statement said. <\/p>\n
According to the press release, the concerned person refused to remove the tempo while removing the encroachment on June 12 and the forest team tried to remove it by force.
