Manoj Gyawali, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Nabil Bank, said that until there is legal clarity in the education sector, banks cannot invest confidently.\u00a0The banks have warned that the state will not invest in the education sector if it does not bind the education sector to a clear policy and only talks about ‘service’. <\/p>\n
Speaking at a panel discussion on ‘Investment of Private Sector in Education’ at the ‘4th Kendrabindu Education Excellence Award 2083’ organized by Kendrabindu Online Media Pvt. Ltd. in Lalitpur on Tuesday, CEO Gyawali pointed out the need of policy clarity. <\/p>\n
According to Gyawali, about 3 percent of the total banking investment is in the education sector. He said that the investment is focused on medical colleges, management colleges and a large part of the students going abroad to study. <\/p>\n
Giving an example of the banks’ trust in the education sector, he said that Nabil Bank alone has invested Rs 22 billion in this sector. <\/p>\n
Speaking at the program, CEO Gyawali said, “Education policy should not change with the change of government, due to which the private sector is now disappointed. If we talk about education only as a service, then the bank will not increase investment in this sector. Banks cannot invest public money so lightly. \u2019<\/p>\n
Gyawali made it clear that since the banks are profit-making institutions, they seek to ensure that the investment is safe and returned.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
