Kathmandu. Tehran’s top negotiator and parliament speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf has warned Tehran of a “strong response” if the United States or its allies act in bad faith, violate the newly established framework for negotiations or make additional demands. <\/p>\n
In a post posted on X, Ghalibaf said he was committed to abide by the terms and conditions laid down by Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei but would be “severely dealt with” if the agreement was violated. “We’re in command,” he said. We will not hesitate to give a strong reply to the enemy if there is any ill-intention or additional demand from the opposition. \u2019<\/p>\n
The warning came as the US and Iran began 60 days of talks aimed at striking a broad deal covering sanctions, nuclear sanctions, missile capabilities and regional security. Earlier, Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei made it clear that future face-to-face talks should not be seen as an acknowledgement of the US position. <\/p>\n
Meanwhile, US Vice President J. D. Vance confirmed that the formal 60 days of dialogue began on June 18. Vance defended the deal, saying the US had significantly weakened Iran’s military capability while upholding its legitimate right to self-defense. <\/p>\n
Vance also linked the deal to energy markets and improving maritime security. According to him, more than 12.5 million barrels of oil have been transported through the Strait of Hormuz overnight, the highest since the conflict began. He said that as restrictions were eased and shipping routes reopened, oil prices had fallen, which had a positive economic impact on the US market.
