Pakistan’s Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi met Iranian Foreign Minister Sayyed Abbas Arghchi in Tehran on Saturday. Pakistan is mediating diplomatic contacts between Qatar as well as Iran and the US. <\/p>\n
U. S. Vice President J. D. Vance said in a media interview on Saturday that talks with Iran could start on Sunday and that the talks were going smoothly. He also said he could travel to Switzerland in the coming days. <\/p>\n

The developments came despite a ceasefire agreement between Lebanon and Israel that took effect on Friday afternoon. The ceasefire came after the United States and Iran signed a memorandum of understanding aimed at ending hostilities on all fronts, including on Lebanon. <\/p>\n
According to multiple media reports, a senior US official claimed on Friday that Israel and Hezbollah in Lebanon had agreed to a ceasefire, which came into effect at 4:00 p. m. local time. <\/p>\n
The agreement was expected to reopen the strategically important Strait of Hormuz to commercial ships. <\/p>\n
According to the fifth point of the agreement, Iran will do its best to ensure the safe passage of merchant ships through the Strait of Hormuz without any charges. <\/p>\n
When the war broke out and the waterway was closed, the price of crude oil had skyrocketed around the world, so the main objective of the United States was to open it. The United States and Iran had signed a 14-point agreement for a ceasefire. <\/p>\n
Pakistan, the main negotiator in the Middle East talks, said on Sunday that a technical-level meeting will be held in Switzerland on Sunday with an aim to implement an interim agreement to end the war in the Middle East. <\/p>\n
“As a follow-up to the signing of the Islamabad Accords, technical level talks will be held in Bergenstock, Switzerland on Sunday,” Pakistan’s Foreign Office said in a statement.
