Kathmandu. A technical fault has caused an explosion and fire at a factory in the industrial city of Ras Laffan, Qatar. Qatar’s interior ministry said 54 people were injured and 18 are still missing. <\/p>\n
“Following the incident, the Qatar International Search and Rescue Group (Lakhvia) and Civil Defence teams are continuing to carry out search and rescue operations,” the ministry said. In a preliminary notice posted on X’s social media after the incident, the ministry said that the explosion and fire occurred due to a technical problem at the factory located in the industrial zone. <\/p>\n
An update later confirmed that the number of injured had risen to 54, while the search for the missing continued. <\/p>\n
According to the Qatar Energy Company, the explosion and fire occurred due to a technical problem while resuming operations at a local gas supply facility in Barzan. The incident took place on Sunday evening. The fire was brought under control by immediately mobilizing emergency response teams, the company said.
