The Lalitpur Metropolitan City presented its budget for the fiscal year 2083\/84 focusing on development, heritage and cultural preservation, good governance, social inclusion and sustainable urban development. Presenting the budget on Wednesday, Deputy Mayor Manjali Shakya Bajracharya said that the budget has been allocated prioritizing the problems and needs of the municipality denizens. <\/p>\n<p>The President said the goal was to bring socially and economically backward classes, communities and regions into the mainstream of development by maintaining continuity in good works and good practices with positive thinking. The budget is expected to further strengthen the trust, relations and closeness between the metropolis and the people of the city. <\/p>\n<p>The metropolis has allocated a budget of Rs 7.48 billion for the coming fiscal year 2083\/084 as per the recommendation of the Resource Estimates and Budget Ceiling Determination Committee formed as per the Local Government Operation Act, 2074. <\/p>\n<p>The total expenditure was Rs 7.47 billion. Out of this, Rs 2.96 billion is current expenditure and Rs 4.50 billion is capital expenditure. <\/p>\n<p>According to KMC, a total of Rs 3.43 billion or 51.2 percent of the budget has been spent till mid-June 2083. Of this, 72 per cent has been spent on current expenditure and 41 per cent towards capital expenditure. <\/p>\n<p>The KMC has set a target for the coming year to preserve and promote local art, culture and heritage, proper use of local resources, protection of public land, disaster risk reduction, environment conservation and greenery and transparency, accountability and good governance in service delivery. <\/p>\n<p>The budget for the coming fiscal year has given high priority to institutional strengthening and good governance, sustainable infrastructure and urban development, preservation of art and culture and heritage, accessible health service, quality education, gender equality, women empowerment, social inclusion, environment protection, cooperatives and enterprise promotion, tourism development, disabled-friendly management, youth and sports, child-friendly programmes, disaster management, employment promotion and poverty alleviation. <\/p>\n<p>Likewise, the budget has also incorporated the goals of collaboration with private sector, non-government organisations and civil society, technology-friendly and accountable service delivery, and supply of clean drinking water to every household. <\/p>\n<p>According to the metropolis, the budget is almost equal to the budget of the current fiscal year.\u00a0Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) has pledged to advance development works, heritage conservation, improvement in service delivery and good governance in an effective manner despite limited resources.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Kathmandu.
