. Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) lawmaker Reema Bishwakarma has expressed serious concern over the increasing cases of self-immolation attempts across the country.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Speaking at the meeting of the House of Representatives on Tuesday, she expressed concern over the increasing cases of self-immolation and urged the government to give top priority to the mental health of the citizens.<\/p>\n
‘Cases of self-immolation attempts are on the rise across the country. The increasing number of suicide attempts has raised serious questions about the mental health of the citizens,” she said.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Asked if the government was taking decision in a hurry in the name of policy reforms, she urged the government to be sensitive as it might have a direct impact on the citizens while formulating the laws.<\/p>\n
She said, “Our government, which is in a hurry to reform the policy, is not in a hurry. For whom we are making laws, they are not being affected in any way. Or is it that the citizens have to take such suicidal steps to get justice for their suffering? “The government, which has prioritized good governance, needs to make mental health a national agenda,” she said.\u00a0<\/p>\n

She said that along with political responsibility, it is necessary to embrace social and moral responsibilities sensitively.\u00a0<\/p>\n
