Undeclared load shedding and lack of quality electricity hit industrialists: Federation President Shrestha<\/strong><\/p>\n Kathmandu Anjan Shrestha, president of Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI), said that although the government has claimed that load-shedding has ended in the country, the industries are still facing serious problem due to undeclared load-shedding and lack of quality electricity. <\/p>\n Speaking at an interaction program on ‘Challenges of Electricity Infrastructure Construction and Way Forward’ organized by the Economic Journalists’ Association of Nepal (NAFIZ) here today, Chairman Shrestha said that the industrial areas of Terai do not have the required quality electricity for operating industries. According to him, the industries have been instructed daily by phone from the Nepal Electricity Authority to use electricity so that they can only keep the lights on for a certain time and not to operate the generating machines.<\/p>\n He said that although it does not formally call it load-shedding, in practice the industries have been facing undeclared load shedding. <\/p>\n ‘There is no load shedding in urban areas including Kathmandu. “However, industries in the bordering and Terai industries are still facing unannounced power cuts,” he said. Shrestha stressed that the government should take this problem seriously in the industrial sector. According to him, the industries have not been able to reap the expected benefits due to the lack of parallel expansion of transmission and distribution system at a time when electricity production is increasing. <\/p>\n Stating that the production capacity of the industries has been affected due to undeclared load shedding and poor electricity quality, he urged the media to highlight this issue with priority.<\/p>\n ‘It is not enough to say that there is no load shedding.
