. Minister for Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Sobita Gautam has said that the government has declared the fiscal year 2083\/84 as the Year of Law Reform and Law Reform Year. <\/p>\n
In a video message posted on Facebook on Friday, Minister Gautam said that the basis of the law should be strong first to make the rule of law effective.<\/p>\n
According to him, many of the laws currently prevalent in Nepal are decades old and it is necessary to make them relevant as per the change in time, social situation and governance system. <\/p>\n
“In order to work under the rule of law, the foundation of the law must first be strong,” she said.<\/p>\n
The laws prevalent in Nepal are decades old. Times have changed, social conditions have changed, the country’s governance system has also changed, but according to all these changes, many of our laws are yet to become relevant for a long time. She said that the government has set a target to amend, repeal, codify and integrate necessary laws by reviewing the existing acts throughout the current fiscal year. She also said that areas where the new law is needed will be identified. <\/p>\n
‘For the fiscal year 2083\u00f784, the Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Justice will reform and formulate laws. (We have announced it as a reform). This year, we aim to amend, repeal and codify or integrate the necessary laws by revisiting the existing laws. We will also identify areas where the new law is needed,” she said. <\/p>\n
Minister Gautam said that preparations have been completed to form a high-level law reform committee to systematize the law reform process.<\/p>\n
Similarly, the ‘Government Bill Tracking System’ will be introduced to make the law-making process transparent and systematic, through which citizens will be able to monitor the stage of the bill on a regular basis. <\/p>\n
She further said that necessary coordination and collaboration with the federal parliament would be continued for the effective and timely conclusion of the law-making process. She said, “The federal parliament will continue to be responsible for the effective and timely completion of the law-making process.”<\/p>\n
