A similar error was found in the process of obtaining permission for the shooting of a Japanese music video held recently in Kagbeni, Mustang. <\/p>\n
The problem has been created as there are only two forms available for shooting permission at the audio-visual section under the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology. <\/p>\n
The form is available only for one film and documentary in the ministry. The ministry does not have a separate genre or form for music video, web series, advertisement or other commercial shooting, which has put the production team in a dilemma.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Due to outdated and impractical procedures, a Japanese music video shot in Mustang recently had to get permission as a documentary film.<\/p>\n
Japan’s famous music video director Taku Hirakoshi shared his experience that Nepal’s permission process compulsorily required him to take the identity of a documentary director. <\/p>\n
Nepalis in the construction team said that the basic process of the ministry would be impractical, which would send a wrong message to foreign creators and question was raised about Nepal’s administrative process.<\/p>\n

The music video also features two Nepali child artists.<\/p>\n
The foreign cast and crew of technicians have already returned to their home country after completing the shooting. <\/p>\n
Even the new bill related to films currently under discussion does not address these categories.<\/p>\n
Due to the lack of a clear policy on how to manage genres other than films and documentaries (such as music videos, advertisements, etc.), even foreign creators are forced to fall into the process of such cumbersome and misclassification in Nepal. <\/p>\n
International artists who come to shoot in Nepal have lost the identity of their original genre and have to become documentary directors. Filmmakers say that the permission to allow music videos as documentaries is a weakness of the ministry’s system and lack of genre knowledge. <\/p>\n<\/p>\n
