KATHMANDU: Prime Minister Balen Shah has said that the government has decided not to implement education parity fee and health parity fee for the time being. Taking to social media on Tuesday, Minister Khatiwada said that the decision to not apply education parity fee and health parity fee was taken after consultation with Finance Minister Swarnim Wagle as the immediate implementation of the 3 percent equality tax in private education and health sector would cause additional financial burden and disappointment to the general public. <\/p>\n<p>He said, &#8220;The 3% parity tax levied in the private education and health sector has been implemented as per the current demand. Therefore, after consultation with Finance Minister Swarnim Wagle, it has been decided not to apply education parity fee and health parity fee for now. \u2019<\/p>\n<p>On the occasion, Prime Minister Shah said that the objective of the 3 per cent equality tax introduced by the government is to provide quality education and health services to the people of remote and backward areas, to support the Dalit, marginalized and disadvantaged children, to expand health insurance and to mobilize the necessary financial resources for this. <\/p>\n<p>&#8220;This government is a people-centric government formed with people&#8217;s trust and expectation. Our main objective is to ensure a quality of life for all citizens while maintaining good governance. The objective of the 3% parity tax was to provide good education and health services to the citizens of remote and backward areas, to support Dalit, marginalized and disadvantaged children, to expand health insurance and to raise the necessary financial resources for this. At the same time, the goal was to make the economy more systematic by expanding the tax base. \u2019<\/p>\n<p>Stating that the government has taken citizen&#8217;s feedback seriously, he said decisions would be taken keeping the interest of the citizens at the centre. <\/p>\n<p>&#8220;But the response to the parity tax at the civic level has drawn serious attention to the government,&#8221; he said. Our commitment to move forward listening to people&#8217;s demands and building an equitable society is unwavering and clear. All the decisions of the government have been made keeping the interest of the citizens at the center and will be done. The government is always ready to correct and revise any decision if citizens are dissatisfied with it. \u2019<\/p>\n<p>The government was committed to implementing the policy of providing 10 per cent beds in private hospitals and 10 per cent seats in private colleges and universities in a transparent and equitable manner to ensure quality education and health services to poor and poor citizens.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Kathmandu.
