Kathmandu. Harihar Birahi is a respected personality in the field of Nepali politics and journalism. Birahi, who was immersed in the heat and heat of the democratic movement since his student days in Janakpur, got the opportunity to associate with people’s leader BP Koirala for a long time. <\/p>\n
In an interview with Nepal News Bank, Birahi has mentioned about the personality of BP Koirala, his political foresight and the interesting context of his entry into journalism.<\/p>\n
Birahi’s political journey began from Janakpur. He had shown his rebellious spirit by smearing black soot on the idol of Mahendra in front of the Janaki Temple in Janakpur on the day of King Mahendra’s birth anniversary (Falgun 7). <\/p>\n
He was supported by Keshav Koirala (who later became a martyr) and Mahantha Thakur (now leader of the Loktantrik Samajbadi Party).<\/p>\n
After that, he was jailed for the first time. After his release from prison, he In 2027 B. S., he went to Banaras to meet BP Koirala, who was living in exile. There he also met Ganesh Man Singh and Shailaja Acharya. <\/p>\n
“It was a youthful enthusiasm at that time,” says Birahi. After the plane hijacking, I also felt that I should join the armed revolution and I went to BP to ask for weapons. When BP saw the young Josh of Birahi, he did not immediately give him the weapon. After keeping him close to him for a few days, BP gave a historic suggestion to Birahi. Under the direction of BP, Birahi Tarun joined the editorial board of the magazine. BP introduced him to eminent editors in India and inspired him to write. BP had explained to him that democracy cannot survive without making the people aware and aware. In this way, a rebellious youth moved forward on the path of journalism under the guidance of BP. <\/p>\n
Birahi recalled an incident of BP’s generosity and political acumen. Birahi had written a strong article in the Calcutta newspaper titled ‘Surrender of Subarna Shumsher’ in protest against the statement made by the then acting president Subarna Shumsher that he would provide devotional support to the king. Birahi thought that BP would be happy to see this article. However, BP took him to the terrace and reminded him. <\/p>\n
BP said, “What you have written will further divide me and Suvarnaji. The soft policy he has taken with the king has been done on my advice. The movement suffers if the leaders do not understand the strategic issues. This incident made Birahi understand the dignity of leadership and the importance of internal strategy. <\/p>\n
National reconciliation policy and concern for nationality<\/p>\n
After seeing Sikkim’s merger with India, instability in Afghanistan and the crisis in Iran, BP saw the danger of increasing foreign interference in Nepal and the possibility of a crisis of nationality. According to Birahi, BP had introduced the policy of ‘national reconciliation’ in 2033 BS fearing that a third party would take advantage of the conflict between the king and the people. <\/p>\n
BP used to say, “Without democracy, nationalism is not strong and without nationalism, there can be no monarchy.”<\/p>\n
Under the same policy, Birahi returned to Nepal and was arrested in Janakpur and spent 18 months in Ramechhap jail. <\/p>\n
Relevance of BP’s Thoughts <\/p>\n
In the eyes of Birahi, BP was not only a political leader but also a prodigious genius with literature, philosophy and scientific thinking. B. S. In 2006 BS, he talked about the Constituent Assembly, which materialized only after decades. He described the monarchy as an expired medicine, which indicated that the end of the monarchy was certain in the future. <\/p>\n
