. KATHMANDU: CPN (UML) Chairman KP Sharma Oli has said that election is not the only basis for democracy. <\/p>\n
Addressing a program organized by the Communist Party of Nepal (Unified Marxist-Leninist) on the occasion of the 48th Pushpalal Memorial Day here today, Oli said although several countries have held elections, there is no democracy.<\/p>\n
He said, “Democracy cannot be achieved only through elections. Elections are held in many countries, but there is no democracy. There will be elections, there will be no democracy. Even in our country, I don’t see the need to bite my tongue to speak. Commenting on the incidents of loss of life and property, arson and violence that took place on September 7 and 24, Oli said such incidents could not be imagined in the history of Nepal.<\/p>\n
He said, “The incidents of loss of life and property, killing, arson in the country on September 23 and 24, 2005 could never have been imagined in the history of Nepal.” This was not the case in the struggle against the Rana regime. The houses of the Ranas were not set on fire, the palaces were not burnt. This was not the case in the subsequent struggles. This did not happen in the movement of 2006\u00f763. Referring to the Maoist movement, he claimed that although the path of violence was chosen, there were no activities to control the society under the control of terror.<\/p>\n
He said, “The Maoists took the path of violence thinking that it was appropriate to seize power. But he committed riots and acts of terror.\u00a0They did not do such activities to control the fear of terror in the society. “<\/p>\n
Oli also accused the government of carrying out illegal and criminal activities against the legitimate government and the constitutional system. Raising the issue of the dissolution of the House of Representatives, he questioned the interpretation of the constitution. <\/p>\n
He said, “The overthrow of the legitimate government and the legitimate authority through illegal, terrorist and criminal activities is not only against the constitution, but what the article of the constitution says is not the same was done under the leadership of the former Chief Justice.”<\/p>\n
It was a matter of restriction. The parliament was closed by removing the elected lawmakers on illegal recommendations. There may not be a one-third option. It would be unconstitutional and undemocratic for the Prime Minister to recommend that he dissolve the government because it was inconvenient, inconvenient, and not possible to run the government. And by what article is the dissolution of the House of Representatives?”\u00a0<\/p>\n
Likewise, PM Oli said all political parties should work together for the country, people, democracy, constitution and good governance.<\/p>\n
He pointed out the need for all parties to move ahead in common to protect democracy, protect the constitution and restore good governance. <\/p>\n
“For the sake of the country, in the interest of the people, let us move ahead with determination to bring back democracy, protect the constitution and bring back good governance,” he said.<\/p>\n
Let’s move forward unitedly. It is not that all the parties should come together and form one party. The party may be our own, but let’s work together and cooperate. “<\/p>\n
Oli admitted that there was some confusion regarding the state government and said that it would be resolved soon. <\/p>\n
He said, “There seems to be a bit of confusion in the state governments at the moment.<\/p>\n
