. World Breastfeeding Week is being celebrated across the globe today.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Since its inception in 1992, the week is now celebrated in more than 120 countries in collaboration with the World Health Organization (WHO), UNICEF and other international organizations. Celebrated with the goal of promoting breast milk for the first 6 months of life, the week aims to raise awareness among new parents about the importance of breastfeeding and contribute to improving the health of the baby. According to health experts, from birth to 6 months, the baby does not need water, glucose, vitamins or any other food except mother’s milk.<\/p>\n
It is recommended to breastfeed the baby during this period as the necessary nutrients, water and immunity are obtained from the mother’s milk. <\/p>\n
According to health workers, full breastfeeding will not only support the physical and mental development of infants, but also to boost the immune system, reduce the risk of infectious diseases and reduce infant mortality.<\/p>\n
It will also have a positive impact on the health of the mother. <\/p>\n
Similarly, starting breast milk within an hour of childbirth is called early breastfeeding.<\/p>\n
Colostrum, which comes after birth, is also considered as the first natural vaccine for babies because it is rich in antioxidants. <\/p>\n
Health workers are urging people to start a nutritious diet with breast milk when their baby is 6 months old and continue breastfeeding for at least two years.<\/p>\n
