The Department of Cooperatives submitted its annual progress report to acting chief Sunita Dangol on Friday. According to Dhruba Kumar Kafle, chief of the department, 1,712 borrowers of 103 cooperatives were facilitated to repay the loan through SMS and letter last year.<\/p>\n
Similarly, mediation has been made in 58 cooperatives to resolve the dispute between the savers and the management. <\/p>\n
Acting Chief Dangol instructed to identify potential problems and adopt legal, administrative and practical measures in time to secure the money of the savers. <\/p>\n
According to the metropolis, 10,234 savers have filed complaints demanding the return of more than Rs 8.19 billion in savings.<\/p>\n
Likewise, a letter has been sent to the District Police Range, Kathmandu for action against 915 cooperatives while 187 cooperatives have been recommended for further action. <\/p>\n
The Department has approved intensive monitoring of 40 cooperatives, micro-inspection of 163 institutions and amendment of bylaws of 70 societies.<\/p>\n
Likewise, a public notice has been issued to ban cooperatives collecting savings by making non-Nepali citizens members. g. <\/p>\n<\/p>\n
