KATHMANDU, Dec 14: Joint coordinator of the ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP), Madhav Kumar Nepal, has said that the incidents of torching important historical documents, government buildings and houses of various political leaders during the Genji movement to mark the 29th memorial day of the late Tulsilal Amatya have caused damage to the country’s political and intellectual heritage.

He said that during the Genji movement, various important documents, houses of leaders and government buildings were torched, and various organizations have also suffered the impact of this incident.

He further said that the CPN-UML library and valuable books there were also destroyed in the fire. He said, “In the Genji movement, very important documents were burnt, the houses of various leaders were burnt, various government buildings were burnt.

In this way, the work of destruction was created. The foundation also had to bear the brunt of this. The saddest part is the destruction of the materials of the establishment. After that, the CPN-UML library and the most valuable books in the library were also burnt. “

Madhav Nepal stressed the need to honour the senior personalities who have contributed to the country’s politics and history. “It is unfortunate that the new generation has not been able to recognize, understand and respect the history and the personalities who contributed to it,” he said.

“We all should honour those warriors who played an important role in the country’s politics, in the history of the country, and who took forward our present pride and prestige,” he said.

In a country where the new generation cannot respect the older generation, do not understand who are the most important contributors to history, and do not know how to respect them, then there can be nothing more shameful than that. “

Expressing concern over the increasing incidents of violence and arson in the society, he said that it was necessary to think about what I would have felt if I had been subjected to the pain of violence against others’ houses, property and family. He also stressed the need to develop a culture of tolerance, respect and responsibility in the society.

He said, ‘What kind of generation have we born? What kind of generation have we raised? What kind of culture have we imparted? What kind of culture have we taught? I like to ask myself this. Let us all ask ourselves. Let’s introspect. How much exactly did it actually happen? How much went wrong? Let those who burn down other people’s homes remember what would have happened if their own homes had been burned. What if other family members were assaulted, burned, had their hands cut off? If I can’t even think about it, what can I say? “

He urged everyone to introspect and review the right and wrong actions and stay away from the culture of violence and destruction.

.
